Terms

The runtime is Apache-2.0 open source. These terms cover the small services we run around it on genclass.dev.

What these terms cover

The diagnostics collector at genclass.dev/api/v1/events (and its older address on workers.dev), the model files served from genclass.dev/model/, the per-app dashboards at genclass.dev/dashboard/, the optional accounts at genclass.dev/account (with sign-in at genclass.dev/login and the command line sign-in at genclass.dev/login/device), the paid plans bought at genclass.dev/account/billing, and the early-access form. The @genclass/runtime package itself is licensed under Apache-2.0 and these terms do not change that license.

The diagnostics collector

The runtime sends anonymous diagnostics by default from public hosts, as described on the privacy page and in TELEMETRY.md. If you ship GenClass in your app, you decide whether to keep diagnostics on, and you are responsible for telling your own users if your privacy policy or local law requires it. Turning them off takes one option: telemetry: false.

Send only what the runtime sends. Do not use the collector to store anything else, do not send personal data on purpose (for example by opting in to situation text on pages that show names, emails or payment details), and do not send traffic designed to overload it. The collector may rate-limit traffic, and it drops fields it does not know.

Model files and dashboards

The model files are the published @genclass/runtime-model package, mirrored for faster and more reliable loading; you may also self-host them. A dashboard link is private to whoever holds it: anyone with the link can read that app's aggregate counts. Keep it like a password, and ask us to delete a project if a link leaks.

Accounts

An account is optional and free; you can sign in with a passkey, Google or GitHub. Keep your sign-in methods to yourself: anyone who signs in to your account can see your apps' dashboards and create apps in it, and a command line session you approved can list and create apps in it. Approve a code at genclass.dev/login/device only when you ran npx @genclass/runtime login yourself and your terminal shows that code, and revoke sessions you do not recognise on your account page. Accounts are for developers using GenClass; we may suspend one that abuses these services. You can delete yours at any time on your account page. What an account stores is on the privacy page.

Paid plans

Pro and Custom are paid monthly, in advance, in US dollars, through Stripe. The prices are on the pricing page and on your billing page. A plan renews automatically each month on the date you bought it, until you cancel.

Cancel at any time with Manage billing on your billing page. The plan then stays until the end of the month you paid for and does not renew; after that the account is on the Free plan. Refunds are by request: email mehar@daybot.ca from the address on your billing account.

If we change a price, we email the address on your billing account at least 30 days before the new price applies to your next renewal, so you can cancel first. A change to the Free plan's limits never deletes apps or data you already have.

When a paid plan ends, forwarding stops, export closes, the dashboard shows the Free plan's 7 days again, and data older than 90 days is deleted 30 days after the end of the paid period. Custom includes a classifier trained for your app: a person from GenClass emails you within 1 business day of purchase to agree on what it is trained on and when it ships. For self-hosting, SSO or invoices, email mehar@daybot.ca.

Retention and deletion

Stored diagnostics are deleted 90 days after they arrive. Dashboard aggregates are kept for 90 days. For apps on a paid plan, both are kept for 1 year. To delete the data for a hostname or a dashboard project sooner, email mehar@daybot.ca.

No warranty

These services, free or paid, are provided as they are, without any warranty, and may change, slow down or stop. GenClass is built so that a missing model, a failed download or an unreachable collector never breaks the app it runs in: the runtime then observes without deciding, or stops sending. To the extent the law allows, the GenClass maintainers are not liable for any loss arising from the use of these services.

Changes

We will record changes to these terms in the repository's CHANGELOG and update the date below. Questions: mehar@daybot.ca.
